Finding Gems in Tuscon

Coloured stones have always been a real passion for me and a key starting point for any piece I am making. When a gem dealer opens up a tray of stones in front of you, even after 25 years of buying I still get that tiny buzz of excitement as to what I might find.

Accompanied by my son Alex, I will be heading to the Tucson Gem and Jewelry Show in Arizona at the end of January. I will keep you posted on what gems I find this trip, but for now my *Stone of the Month* is a beautiful dark pink Spinel, which I bought from a lovely Srilankan stone dealer I have known for many years.
